Calendar

Calendar

Client name: UK calendar club
Client product: calendar
Client location: Bolton UK
Company needs: we have been approached by the UK calendars club to create some brand new images for their 2019 calendar. they have a few suggestions:
> the four seasons
>this is Bolton
>school life

I chose to design a calendar based on the theme of the four seasons. i first started of by doing a calendar on school life but then changed my mind as i thought the four seasons was more interesting and i had images that suited the theme more. i used original images for the chosen theme.

i used word to design my calendar as it was simple and free to use. it was easy to use as i already used word before many time so it didn't take me that long to create my calendar.

> For February i decided to use a picture with a dog in the snow. Using Photoshop i cropped out the things in the corners that weren't relevant to make it suitable to the theme.

> for April i decided to use a picture of the sunset because it showed what the weather was like during that season. i also used photo shop to crop out the time in the picture because it wasn't relevant for my calendar

> for November i added a photo of the Bolton town square during the season because my image clearly showed that it was winter which is why the lights are hung up.

> for December i chose to add a picture of Christmas markets in Bolton Bearnaise i thought it was relevant as it is in the town square which shows it is a famous place to visit during that time of year. i used photo shop to crop out the unecessary bits to make it suitable for the calendar.

health and safety

Health and Safety

What is a hazard?
A hazard is something that is risky and could cause danger.
Hazards in a classroom:
>heating e.g fainting and dehydration
>swinging on chairs e.g banging your head
>computers e.g spilling drinks
Here is an example of a risk assessment:Image result for risk assessment
Identifying these hazards is important because you can plan how to avoid them.

what is a safe working practice?
These are often put in place after a risk assessment to give instruction on how to carry out a task safely.
Safe working practices can be set out for many tasks, even straight forward ones just to minimize the a person may face when completing a job.
An example is:

  • A risk assessment in a science lab because of the chemicals used in the room.
  • Safe working practices are put in place to ensure students wear goggles to minimize the risk.

Location recce is visiting a location to check its suitability for filming prior or recording.

Visualisation diagrams

visualisation is a drawing created by hand or digitally showing what something will look like when created. They are used to plan for still images or products and can be a rough sketch or a detailed final design. Visualisation diagrams can be used to plan for things like costumes, logos, posters, cars or webpage layout.

As you read use the highlighter to show which parts of the text are speech and which are sound effects.

Use a different colour for each person who speaks.

Where the scene is set using descriptive language, think how you could use music or sound effects to create the same atmosphere.

The windscreen wipers slapped on the screen in time to the upbeat music on the car stereo.  Mum switched it off in frustration as she sat at the traffic lights.
I don’t know why you had to take so long, I waited half an hour!” she said sharply.  Naomi sighed.  “They didn’t have my size on the shelf, and the woman took ages searching in the stock room.”
We wouldn’t have got stuck in all this traffic if you’d just made your mind up quicker.  We won’t be eating tea until late at this rate.  Today of all days!” Mum retorted.  She was tired and hungry and it had been a long day.
“What’s wrong with the mobile phone I spent a fortune on?  You could have called me.  I wouldn’t have rushed away from work to get there if you’d called”.  Mum wasn’t giving up her bad mood any time soon.
“I forgot to charge it, the battery’s dead,” Naomi answered.  More like you wasted it playing stupid games!” Mum retorted.  “Sorry”, Naomi said quietly.  She looked through the window at the lights reflecting off the puddles.  The car accelerated away and sped out of town.
It was turning stormy, and the wind whipped up the leaves, throwing them against the car as the rain drummed on the roof.  They turned into the driveway of the old vicarage and Mum pulled on the handbrake.  “Oh, that’s just brilliant!” she muttered sarcastically.  “No lights on.  It must be a power cut.  How am I going to cook with no electricity?”  She slammed the car door shut and hurried up the drive as the clock stuck six in the tower of the church next door.
Mum fumbled with the door keys in the pitch blackness, then opened the front door.  Naomi splashed in behind her and they shut out the wind and rain, gasping for breath.
“Maybe we can have a sandwich?” Naomi suggested. “I’ll make it if you like.”  “Ssh!” Mum said sharply.  “Did you hear that?”  “What?” answered Naomi. “Stop it, you’re freaking me out.  You know I’ve always thought this house is haunted.”  “I’m sure I heard something in the living room,” Mum whispered.  “Pass me that brolly, I’m going to have a look”.
Slowly, Mum tiptoed to the door.  She turned the handle, and with a squeak, opened the door.
“Surprise!” came the shout.  The lights snapped on and revealed Dad, Naomi’s brother Paul and a group of friends, squashed in to the room.  Party poppers were set off, and a huge laugh came from the room at Mum’s shocked response.
“Happy Birthday, Mum!” Naomi said cheerfully. “Sorry about the trick, but I had to keep you out of the house ‘til everyone got here!”
